Doris Loftin Howell

Doris Loftin Howell, 103, of Marshall County, passed away September 14, 2015. She was born June 16, 1912 to the late Sam Hinton Loftin and Annie Person Loftin. Following what she described as an idyllic childhood as the oldest of 11 children, she graduated from MSCW and taught school for several years. She married her husband, W. F. Howell, a Methodist minister and lived most of her adult life in Louisiana. In 1974 they retired to her beloved Taska community near family and lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter Sarah Lee LieVan (Greg). To honor her memory she leaves behind, her sister, Anne Loftin Taylor, her brother, John Lucas Loftin, two daughters, Martha Howell and Mary Anne Lee (Richard), six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the gazebo in Magnolia Cemetery in Collierville, TN with a graveside service to begin at 4:00 p.m. that same day.
