Frederick K. Tremont, a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, passed away on September 8, 2024, in Germantown, TN. Born on November 1, 1943 in Watertown, NY to Donald and Susie Tremont, he grew up on a dairy farm and graduated from Adams Center-Adams Central School. At 19, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served four years, completing a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1965-1966. Frederick served with the 1st Marine Air Wing, HMM161/HMM363, earning numerous honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars, and Air Medal.
After his military service, Frederick pursued a diverse career, including owning a small grocery store, Ashkar's, in Watertown. He retired to Tennessee, where he enjoyed being a member of the YMCA and cherished time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. Frederick was an active member of Highland Heights Presbyterian Church until moving to StoryPoint Senior Living in Collierville in 2021, where he made lasting friendships and enjoyed being part of a fun and loving community. Despite settling in Tennessee, he always looked forward to his annual visits to New York, never forgetting his roots.
Frederick is survived by his children, Cynthia Grennan (John), Gregory Tremont (Jessica), Jessica White (Kevin); grandchildren, Dane Parker, Stacey Rees, April Grennan, Tyler Doe, Teagan Tremont, and Noah, Nicholas, Casey, and Eliza White; great grandchildren, Ayden and Dash Parker, and Brynn and Gage Rees; and brothers, Donald, Olin, and Roger Tremont. He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Tremont, and son, Timothy Doe.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 21, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Collierville Funeral Home, 3863 Bailey Station Rd., with a funeral service at 12:00 PM. A committal service with military honors will be held 9AM Monday, September 23 at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Donations in Frederick's memory may be made to veteran organizations or a charity of choice. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
