Galen Glenn Van Wyhe, 71, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away on May 23, 2024. Galen was born in Rock Rapids on October 17, 1952. He pursued his higher education at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Galen dedicated his career to serving others as a Cardiologist/Electrophysiologist at the Sutherland Clinic and Methodist Hospitals. His passion for medicine and healing touched the lives of many patients over the years. Outside of his professional life, Galen found joy in aviation and spending time near the ocean.
Galen is survived by his beloved wife Kathy Van Wyhe, and Willem Aaron. His siblings include Norman Van Wyhe and Fern Lawler (Fort Collins, CO).
Galen is preceded in death by his children, Nicholas Orion Van Wyhe and Renae Deneb Van Wyhe, MD, and his brother Victor Van Wyhe.
A service to honor Galen's life will be held at Collierville Funeral Home, 3863 Bailey Station Road, Collierville, TN, on June 15, 2024, at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Galen Van Wyhe. Collierville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements during this difficult time.
