George McCoy Andrews Sr.

George McCoy Andrews Sr., 89, went to be with the Lord on Friday January 15, 2021. Born to the late Thomas Jett and Emmy Gibson Andrews in Altavista Virginia, George attended Virginia Polytechnical Institute (Virginia Tech). He served as First Sargent in the United States Army in the Korean War. He also served as Master Sargent in the United States Air Force as part of the Strategic Air Command. He was retired from Lowe’s after 30 years of service as a store manager. His favorite pastimes included fishing, golfing, camping and gardening. He loved serving the Lord and was a longtime member of Brookside Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers Paige Andrews and Thomas Andrews; his sister Rachel Andrews; his first wife Joan Andrews and his loving wife Charlotte Andrews.

He is survived by 4 children, George Andrews Jr. (Loretta), Mack Andrews (Ann), Todd Andrews and Paige Michelle Andrews; 2 stepsons Todd Stephens (Sheryl) and Alec Edwards Stephens (Patty);

5 grandchildren, Hannah Andrews, Ellie Andrews, Billy Andrews, Allison Andrews and Hilary Andrews: 3 step grandchildren, Scott Stephens, Ally Stephens (Lance), Blake Stephens and step great-grandchild, Faith Elizabeth Coffman-Stephens. Also survived by a brother Bill Andrews and a sister Polly Moore.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 12:00 noon at Brookside Baptist Church, 4993 Goodman Road, Olive Branch Mississippi 38654. A private burial will follow at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
