James Robert Martin II, 50, of Bartlett, TN, died Wednesday November 28, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis. Mr. Martin was a retired U.S. Navy Veteran where he served honorably, for 20 years from October 7, 1986 until February 1, 2007. After his naval service, he continued working for the U.S. Coast Guard where he remained for 12 years. Mr. Martin was devoted to his family and absolutely loved learning and education. His desire for knowledge afforded him the ability to obtain two bachelor's degrees and three master's degrees. Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Denise Martin, his parents, James Martin, Sr. and Joyce Martin, four sons, Andrew Dunlap (Morgan Smith), Nathan Martin (Stephney Pleasant), Nicholas Martin, and Logan Martin, and one granddaughter, Makenzie Dunlap. He is also survived by three siblings, Michael Martin, John Martin, and Jo Ann Smithson. The family will receive friends Thursday December 6, 2018 from 11am until the funeral service begins at Noon, all at Collierville Funeral Home, 534 W. Poplar Ave. Collierville, TN. A catered reception will follow the service and interment will with military honors will be held at 2pm at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd. Memphis, TN.
