

Janet Ann May Reed, 80, of Cordova, TN passed away surrounded by family on May 30, 2025 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease and a battle with Lymphoma. Born on January 31, 1945 in Frederick, OK, Janet, or Nina to her three grandkids, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Janet was a lifelong elementary educator with a passion for teaching and genuine love for children. She taught second and third grade at Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, Shelby County Schools, and in the Collierville School District. Janet was an avid reader and found great joy in retirement with the Sarah Dunn Book Club that she founded and named in honor of her good friend. Janet was a 1963 graduate of Little Rock’s Hall High School, and a 1967 graduate of Little Rock University with a Bachelors in Education.
Janet is survived by her husband Douglas Reed of over 60 years. They were childhood sweethearts having met as 12-year-olds at Calvary Baptist Church in Little Rock. She is survived by sons Mitchell Reed (Wendy) and Jason Reed both of Little Rock, and three grandkids Parker Reed of Jonesboro, AR, Kilee Reed Bramucci (Alex) of Marion, AR, and Landon Reed of Jonesboro, AR, as well as sisters Linda Covington (Ken) and Debbie May.
Janet was predeceased by her parents, John and Katie May, as well as grandparents B.L. and Ola May and Archie and Lovie Senn.
Visitation will be held at Collierville Funeral Home, 3863 Bailey Station, Collierville on Thursday, June 12 at 5 PM with a Memorial Service to follow at 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
