Jimmie McKenzie Humphreys

Jimmie McKenzie Humphreys, 92, of Collierville, passed from this life Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville. Mrs. Humphreys was born June 22, 1925 in Jackson, TN to the late Bailey Peyton and Ruby Justice McKenzie. She grew up in Greenwood, MS and graduated from Blue Mountain College. She married the love of her life, Robert Hughes Humphreys, on December 31, 1948 and they made their home in Collierville. She was a School Teacher for the Shelby County School System and retired as Secretary for the Collierville Elementary School. Mrs. Humphreys was a member of Collierville First Baptist Church where she served as the pianist for 37 years. She loved playing music for nursing homes, weddings and funerals. In later years, she continued playing piano while a resident at The Village at Germantown. Jimmie and Robert both enjoyed travelling, especially on church trips.

Mrs. Humphreys is survived by her husband of 69 years, Robert Hughes Humphreys; son, Robert A. Humphreys, MD (Suzanne), daughter in law, Donna Robinson Humphreys; sister, Lottie McKenzie Moore (Bill), three grandchildren; Robert C. Humphreys, JD (Brittany), Alan F. Humphreys, DVM, (Mary Elizabeth), Alison Humphreys Nenon (Russell) and one great grandchild, Kennon L. Humphreys. She was preceded in death by a son, John Peyton Humphreys.

The family would like to Thank, Martha Myles, the Staff at The Village at Germantown and The Baptist Reynolds Hospice House for the excellent care they provided for Mrs. Humphreys.

The family will receive friends at Collierville First Baptist Church at 9:00am Saturday, November 25, 2017 with Funeral Services beginning at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Collierville. Memorial contributions can be made to Collierville First Baptist Church or Blue Mountain College.
