Laura Ann Wheatley

She was a wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She loved her family and friends. Anyone who met her felt like they had known her forever, she loved people.

She enjoyed her life as a homemaker. She sewed, cooked, cleaned, gardened and helped others as the need arose. She was a giver. She did all with an attitude of gratitude. She was an encouragement to anyone she met. She loved to make people smile and feel better. She was loved by all and she will be missed by all.

She joins her husbands, Bennie Exum Pirtle and Murray Lee Wheatley, in her eternal home with Jesus in Heaven. Along with her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by six siblings; Novie Cornelius Glenn, Carol Lonzie Byrum, Lela Mae Reaves, Dorothy Louise Rhodes, Mary Adella Merryman, and Hazel Louise Byrum.

She is survived by four children; Theresa Pirtle Stewart (Tom), Debbie Pirtle Mokry (Ken), and Dennis Pirtle (Jennifer); Don Wheatley (Kil Ye), eleven grandchildren, Ben Mokry (Jaki), Angela Wheatley, James Wheatley, Carl Stewart, Brian Stewart, Justin Pirtle, Heather Sharp (Glenn), Brandon Pirtle, Jackson Pirtle, Jake Pirtle, and Dennis Pirtle, Jr; twelve great grandchildren, Hannah Mokry, Emma Mokry, Wynn Mokry, Molly Mokry, Reba Pirtle, Winston Pirtle, Terry Glenn Sharp, John Sharp, Audrey Pirtle, Cohen Pirtle, Violet Pirtle, and Lilly Pirtle; and one sister, Betty Johnson, and three brothers, Frank Byrum, Allie Byrum (Linda) and Terry Byrum.

A visitation for Laura will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Collierville Funeral Home, 3863 BAILEY STATION RD, Collierville, TN 38017. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with a reception to follow. A graveside service will occur Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Gilliand Rd, Mercer, TN 38392.
