

Maxine Hamner Chapman, 91, passed away peacefully at Kirby Pines Manor surrounded by her family on April 3, 2013. She was born September 19, 1921 and was raised and lived in Shelby County her entire life. Maxine was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Fisherville. She was a 1943 graduate of Memphis State College. Maxine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Tommy Chapman; and her beloved brother, Tilden Hamner. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Pressgrove of Brenham, TX, Paula (Lee) Tucker of Nashville, TN; grandsons, Chris Warren of Nashville, TN, Patrick Pressgrove (fiancée, Heather Morrison) of Houston, TX; great grandsons, Zach and Zane Warren of Nashville, TN. Maxine was especially close to Tilden’s surviving widow, Susie Hamner and niece Kaye Guy and nephew Mike (Kathy) Hamner. She also leaves to mourn many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and friends. Tommy and Maxine loved to travel and had visited all fifty states as well as parts of Europe, Asia, Central and South America. She was an avid reader and enjoyed socializing with her Kirby Pines friends. Maxine loved nature, especially the Great Smoky Mountains. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 5 from 5-9 pm at Collierville Funeral Home, 534 W. Poplar Ave, Collierville, TN. Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 6 at 2 pm at First Baptist Church of Fisherville, burial will follow in the church cemetery.
