Norma June Floyd, 88, of Covington, TN passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones in Memphis, TN on December 8, 2025. Born on May 10, 1937, to Warner and Elizabeth Dunn, she dedicated her life to her family.
June was the devoted wife of George Floyd and the loving mother of Robin Floyd Blankenship and Christi Floyd Wilson. She was a proud grandmother to Riley and Luke Wilson and a cherished great-grandmother to Leighton, Georgia, Evie, Annie and Ellis Wilson. Her greatest achievement, as she often said, was having her children—a testament to the deep love and joy she found in family. Although June outlived her siblings Marie, Ruth, Leon and Roy, she remained deeply connected to her entire family. Her nephews Jerry and Stan Daniele regarded her as more of a sister than an aunt and all her loved ones affectionately called her “June Bug”.
Beyond her role as a mother and grandmother, June built a remarkable career at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, where she served as Director of Dormitories. Her dedication and leadership touched countless lives, and her work left a lasting impact on the University community.
June had many hobbies during her lifetime. She was rarely seen without a book in her hand and had a lifelong love of reading. She enjoyed competitive tennis, gardening, sketching and painting. In her later years, she devoted herself to caring for God’s creatures, ensuring animals were loved and protected. Above all, her greatest love was her Jesus and the church. June and George were faithful members and servants of Central Church for over 43 years, where they built lasting friendships and lived out their faith through service. June will be remembered for her warmth, strength and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on December 23, 2025, at Central Church, 2005 E. Winchester Blvd., Collierville, TN 38017, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A committal service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd., Memphis, TN 38125.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing June’s spirit will always be with us.
