Robin Lee Goddard, 60, passed away unexpectedly on September 28, 2023 at her home in Collierville, Tennessee. She was born July 19, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Ted Thomas and Meredith (Johnson) Thomas.
She married her high school sweetheart, Timothy John Goddard, on August 25, 1984 in the Idaho Falls temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Following her studies at Idaho State University, she taught preschool for gifted children for many years. Though she retired from teaching prior to starting her family, she continued to teach throughout her life, including homeschooling her nine children and granddaughter.
Robin loved living life and was passionate about serving others. She volunteered at Asha’s refuge regularly, worked with the food bank, had just started volunteering with the NAACP in Memphis, and served many more people through her church and other organizations.
Her love for the Savior was manifested in the way she lived her life, especially in her care for others. She had a deep appreciation for daily scripture study, regular temple attendance, and sharing the gospel in word and deed.
She was a foodie and loved trying new places with friends. She also shared her love of the arts by going to art museums, plays, and botanical gardens with her family. A favorite tradition was enjoying the Germantown Christmas concert every year. She saw the beauty in everything, particularly in family relationships and in nature.
Her biggest joy was in loving, caring and teaching her family. Her children learned to read and write, discovered cultures from around the world, and grew up making friends from various countries. They learned to try and appreciate new things. Robin loved watching them discover new perspectives and encouraged them to explore many paths of learning.
Robin will be greatly missed by her family and countless others whose hearts she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She is survived by her brother, Lewis Thomas, her husband, Tim Goddard, and her children, Ellie, Ean, Lexie, Brantley, Annie, Marq, Emily, Ashlyn, Cara, her grand-daughter, Evie, and five nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held in her honor at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 3rd at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 580 S Collierville Arlington Rd, Collierville, TN 38017.
