Sean and I and the boys just heard about Barbara's passing and wanted to send our love. Sean had so many wonderful memories growing up next to you and Barbara and Michael. She will be dearly missed and we are keeping you and your family in our prayers.

I was very fortunate to meet Barb while taking Spanish lessons.  A small group of us continued the friendship that had formed for many years thereafter.  Barb brought joy and laughter to us as we struggled to learn a new language.   Rest In Peace Dear Barbara with the beautiful smile.  Aldo and I send our sincere sympathy to Fred and family.

I knew Barbara understood me right from the very beginning.  From our shared love of books and learning, to our silly appreciation for the comedic talents of Art Carney (I can still hear Barbara mimicking him saying “Hello ball!” – we laughed so hard we cried).  What a gift it was to be her friend.  I will hear her voice very time I open a book or put a pen to paper.  So long dear, dear friend.

Years ago when our leader left, I began leading the writer's group. BJ was there, not only to bring food, but to engage with us in our efforts to become better writers. Her great intelligence, keen observations,  insight and heartfelt support were always there for everyone. When it was my turn to move on, she stepped in and continued leading the group.  BJ is loved, respected, and will be missed by far more people than you may realize.  I believe we will see her again in the place where all good comes from. God speed, BJ

A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back when you have forgotten the words.  That was BARBARA.....a truly lovable, kind person.  
Our family has many wonderful memories of Barbara dating back to the days of Berlin Community School.  Thank You Barbara for making such a beautiful difference in our lives.

Barbara had a way, in Writers' Group, to encourage us, and inspire us. She even fed us! At every meeting, she'd bring goodies and water, saying that if people came from work, they wouldn't have had anything to eat.  She gave us interesting topics, and would critique our work, in the gentlest way, to spur us on.  At holiday time, we would have a party...all Barbara's idea... and we could bring a spouse or a friend. She was a genuine people person.  I can honestly say that I loved her.  I feel blessed to have known her. My deep sympathy, Fred, Michael  and family on your loss.

Rest in Peace dear lady. Barb you will be missed. The world and certainly your writer's group will be poorer without your sweet, kind,  gentle presence.  


If she had to leave us too soon, how fitting that it's this week that includes in it the 4th of July.  She was a veteran, she loved our country.  She had a heart as large as Texas and cared about everybody.  Our knitting group at the library considered her our coach and she gave us challenges, like any good coach or teacher worth their salt.  She didn't just challenge us, she supported us with our knitting projects and with life's difficulties.  Some of us would cringe how she would speedily unravel a project and then just resume at the end of an unravel and exude confidence that all would be well. She knitted many, many items to help those who were suffering and also for other reasons.  She and Fred were so devoted to each other and had a loving friendship as part of their marriage.  She spoke to us of her son, daughter-in-law, and grandsons.  I would always look forward to the times that she would spend with us.  She would thoughtfully bring water, tissues, cookies, veggies, dip.  It was a party!  Our classes brought laughter and sometimes tears, but always love. She often signed her emails "Aloha."  May she rest in God's true peace and to her I also say "Aloha, dear friend. You won't ever be forgotten."
