She was the treasured mother of Michael Papa (Samantha), Matthew Papa (Jessica), and Samuel Duffy (Talia). The cherished daughter of the late Monica Borowiec (nee Grammas) and Russell Borowiec. Deborah was born on December 8, 1959 in Williamsport, PA and moved to Collingswood, NJ with her family in 1970 where she then graduated from Collingswood High School in 1977 as a proud member of the cheerleading squad. She helped thousands of people throughout her illustrious tenure at Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ where she worked as a registered nurse and infectious disease researcher for 42 years right up until her passing. Even though she had already hit retirement age, she loved her work so much that she had no desire to stop. Deborah was a giver and a caretaker through and through, and it showed in everything she did through the care she had for her patients and the love she had for family and friends.
Deborah’s presence made every room brighter and every moment warmer and just a little more special. She had a true zest for life that she was all too happy to share with everyone who was fortunate enough to cross paths with her on a given day. Her happiest place was being surrounded by loved ones with her toes between the sands on the beaches of Ocean City and Wildwood. She loved going on adventures and traveling to new places, she had a deep love and appreciation for nature and creativity, and would always be so delighted whenever she spotted some pretty flowers or some cute arts and crafts that would perfectly display in her home. She was a diehard fan of the Eagles and Phillies, and was always up for watching the game over some food and drink. She was also an avid reader, and would often be found with a book in her hands whenever she had some quiet moments or was winding down for the day.
Deborah went through everyday with gratitude for the life she had, and spread that love, kindness, tenderness, peace, and open heart to all. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and second family she grew to love over her decades working at Cooper Hospital.
