John Allen Ray, of Audubon, passed away on August 26th, 2024. Born September 20th, 1955 in Camden to his parents Warren and Naomi Ray. John attended Woodrow Wilson High School, graduating in 1973 and then began his work as a proud union drywall finisher. John was an avid fisherman and loved being out on the water.
He was also an animal lover who enjoyed being outdoors as much as possible with the many dogs he raised during his life. His most recent companion was a hound named Honey, whom he adored.
John was known for many things but most of all for his sense of humor and his generosity. If John wasn’t pranking someone on the worksite, he was making fruit baskets for those he cared about.
He was an extremely loyal friend and loving father who supported his family through every step of life. His presence will truly be missed, but his memory will produce endless happiness for those who loved him.
Survived by his daughter, Rachel Ray; love of his life, Lynda Ray; sister, Janet Cianci; stepdaughters, Kristin and Alyssa; nieces and nephews, David Ray (deceased), Cathy Cianci, Kelly Ray (deceased), Dennis Ray, Annette Klaus, Darrin Ray, Tracey Conway, Stephen Ray and grandchildren that fondly knew him as “Papa John”.
John is predeceased by his parents, Warren and Naomi Ray; brothers, Warren “Butch” Ray (Joan), Alfred Dennis Ray (Marty), David Ray and brother in law, Vito Cianci.
At the request of the family, funeral services will be private but memorial contributions can be made to the Voorhees Animal Orphanage in John’s honor.
