

Age 90 of Voorhees
William passed on Monday March 6, 2017. During life at age 14 thru 17 he was employed by N.Y.A. – Campbell Soup Co. and New York Shipbuilding. In 1943 at the age of 17 William enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. and participated in enemy combat at Okinawa & surrender of the Japanese at Tsingtao, China. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal in 1946.
He was appointed to the Camden City Police Dept in 1950 as a patrolman. In 1960 William was appointed Detective in the Homicide Unit. In 1963 he was appointed to the Camden County Prosecutors office and supervised the Homicide Unit and the Narcotics Task Force. He retired in 1989 with the rank of Detective Captain. William was the recipient of many commendations & awards for outstanding police work. He was a member of F.O.P. Lodge #1, Camden Police & Fire, VFW Post 871H & American Legion Post 281.
Predeceased by his parents William B. & Margaret Reeves Sr. (nee Ship). He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 yrs. Betty A. Reeves (nee Johnson). Cherished father of Kim Reeves, stepfather of Joseph (Angel) Butterworth. Dear brother of Margaret Whalen, Stanley Reeves and predeceased John & Robert Reeves. Loving grandfather of William B. Reeves III, Joseph Butterworth, Leah (Marty) Burns & Christa Butterworth. Loving great grandfather of Liam & James Burns. William leaves behind many nieces & nephews.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing on Saturday March 11, 9:00 – 11:00 am at BLAKE-DOYLE Funeral Home, 226 W. Collings Ave, Collingswood, NJ 08108. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
