William (Bill) is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Diane (nee Graf), his children David and his wife Shannon, Joslyn and her husband Mark and two grandchildren Caleigh and Connor. William’s life began in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with his six sisters and two brothers. A family man; he will be remembered by a large and loving extended family including many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Soon after graduating Archbishop Ryan High School in 1970, Bill began what would be an over 30-year career in the candy business starting with Whitman’s Chocolates. His career would move him and his family to New Jersey, Illinois and Texas making many friends along the way. While some wait for retirement to find their piece of paradise, Diane and Bill followed their dream of living on the water and built a home in a little fishing town called Matlacha in Florida. Too young to retire this born entrepreneur always found work; running multiple small businesses then finding his way into real estate, he became known in Florida as the Barefoot Realtor. He built many relationships in his work and travels. He was a member of the National Candy Sales Association, Matlacha Civic Association and The Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce.
Long time Philly sports fans, Bill and Diane moved again, back home to the Philadelphia area in 2018 and made sure they were home in time to see the Eagles become Superbowl Champions. Seeing two World Series Wins and becoming a Phillies season ticket holder Bill spent many memorable days at the ballpark too.
A Memorial Service will be held on November 28, 2020 at BLAKE-DOYLE Funeral Home, 226 W. Collings Avenue, Collingswood, New Jersey. Family and friends are welcome for visitation from 11am to 12pm followed by a private memorial service.
Donations can be made in his memory to the FOP Survivors Fund or Phillies Charities Inc.
