Adrian I Herlea, 88 years old, of Colorado Springs, CO, left us on the evening of February 1, 2018 to be with our great Lord Jesus Christ. At his time of death, Adrian was surrounded by many family members who will forever cherish his life. Adrian was preceded in death by his wife, Laura (Mircea) Herlea. He is survived by his older son, Cristian A. Herlea of Houston, TX; younger son, Marius C. Herlea and his wife, Lorie; granddaughter, Erica A. Larson and her husband, John Paul; grandson, Marius C. Herlea Jr. and his girlfriend, Megan; great granddaughter, Audrey A. Larson; all of Colorado Springs, CO. Adrian is also survived by the Mircea family of TX, Della-Pupa family of Florida and New Jersey as well as many cousins and relatives from Vinerea, Sibiu and Bucharest in Romania.
Adrian was born to Ioan Herlea and Maria (Oltean) Herlea on November 18, 1929, in the town of Vinerea, Alba County, Romania. He met Laura Mircea in 1963 and later married her on August 7,1964. This began Adrian and Laura’s nearly 50-year journey which ended on June 6, 2014 upon her passing to be with the Lord. Adrian, Laura and their two sons immigrated to the United States in 1982-1983 respectively, and he later became a proud United States Citizen.
In June 1950, at age 20, Adrian was one of many Romanian student activists that participated in anticommunism protests, leading to his arrest and 7 years of hard labor imprisonment, often times being fed just bread and water. This unfortunate period changed his life forever and shaped him to become one of the most admired men among all those who knew him.
Adrian worked for 23 years at Semănătoarea Factory in Bucharest, Romania as a production technician and translated technical documents. While supporting his family and working full time, Adrian completed college for Germanic Languages in Bucharest in 1972. Upon his arrival to the United States, he worked at Hertz Rent a Car in Houston, TX from where he retired in August 2005 after 21 years of employment.
As a father, grandfather, and friend, Adrian always greeted warmly and carried politeness and wisdom everywhere he went. He was always sure to honor our Lord Jesus Christ and taught us all how not to waste and not to take anything for granted. Adrian was, and will continue to be, a role model to all those who knew him.

We love and miss you Dad and Papa.
I AM THE LIVING ONE who sees you. I am more fully, gloriously alive than you can imagine. Today, you will see Me face to Face in all My Glory, and you will be awestruck! In the past, though, you saw through a glass, darkly. Your view of Me was obscured by your fallen condition. Nonetheless, I saw you with perfect clarity. I know everything about you, including your most secret thoughts and feelings. I understand how broken and weak you were: I remember that you were dust. Yet I chose to love you with everlasting Love.
The gift of My Love was indescribably costly. I endured unspeakable suffering to save you from an eternity of agony. I became sin for you so that in Me you might become the righteousness of God. Ponder this wondrous truth: My righteousness is now yours! This gift of infinite value has been yours ever since you trusted Me as the God-Man who saved you from your sins. Rejoice that the living One who sees you perfectly is the Savior who loves you always!
