

Albert William Farkas, age 78, known as "Al" by his friends and family, was born in Denver, CO on September 21, 1943 to Lucille Theresa Knopke and Albert William Farkas. Al passed peacefully at UC Health Center (Memorial Central) on March 9th. He died from complications of Covid. Al graduated from Lewis Palmer HS (Big Red) in 1962. Al enlisted in the Navy in 1964 just in time as he got his draft notice for the Army shortly thereafter. Al was very proud of his service to his country. He served with distinction in the US Navy on the USS Forrestal and the USS Springfield as an oil king from 1964-1968.
Al was hired by the City of Colorado Springs Utilities in 1968 working at the power plants Birdsall, Martin Drake and retiring from the Nixon Power Plant in 1999. He worked for 31 years and was a shift supervisor.
Al leaves to mourn his death his many friends, his Denver family, his loving wife, Deb and their son, Don. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Terry and his sister LouAnn who died as an infant in 1946. Al loved the mountains and being in nature. Al started camping with his family as a baby and continued throughout his life.
He loved walking his dogs, walking the car, truck and RV lots. He had a passion for vehicles! Al loved pizza and Blue Bell ice cream, and just eating in general.
A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery where his cremated remains will be interred. A celebration of life will follow.
