

Al Demarest, age 83, passed away on November 8, 2025, in Monument, CO. He was born in the Bronx, NY, on December 19, 1941, to parents Alfred and Ruth (Lauten) Demarest. His family later moved to Eastchester, NY. He graduated from Tuckahoe High School (1959) and the University of Connecticut (1963), commissioned from ROTC as a 2nd Lieutenant. Then began his Army career with first duty station at Ft. Carson, CO.
He met his wife, Linda, through two aunts who worked together and thought this a good match. It was, and they were married in June 1964, for 61 years. They have 2 sons, christopher and Robert; 3 granddaughters, Rachel, Amanda (Brent) and Lauren: 3 great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Preston and Axl.
Al and his family moved to many Army post stateside, and to Germany and Kwajalein Missile Range in the Marshall Islands. He also had two tours in Vietnam. His first branch of service was infantry, then he switched to Military Police. He retired from the Army in 1983 as a Major, and began a second career in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, as Broward County Deputy Sheriff, for 14 years. He enjoyed this work very much. He and Linda then moved back to Colorado in 1997.
He and Linda enjoyed travelling all over the U.S., and made it a mission to see all 50 states. They also enjoyed travel abroad, visiting many volunteered with the Department of Corrections (DOC) in Colorado Springs for many years, making many friends.
Al is survived by his wife, Linda; sister, Ann (Joe) Custance, of Monson, MA; his two sons, Christopher and Robert, his 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
