

Anita was born October 30, 1933, in Kingsford, MI, to John and Ann Strelick. She married the love of her life, Gordon J. Everson, on July 25, 1953. They were married 62 years until Gordon’s passing in 2015.
She is survived by their five children Mary Ann Hassan (Moe) of Camarillo, CA; Chip of Neenah, WI; Eric (Christine) of Westminster, CO; Wanda Nevers of Newhall, CA; and Lola Everson-Fennell of Colorado Springs, CO. Also greatly loved and cherished are her 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Anita is also survived by her baby sister, Mary Jeske of Minneapolis, MN, and sister-in-law, Eunice Strelick, of Richardson, TX.
Anita and Gordon moved to Las Animas, CO, in 1959 from Waukegan, IL, to work at the VA Hospital in Fort Lyon, CO. There they raised their five children and created beautiful memories before both moving to Colorado Springs, CO, in 2012 to be closer to family.
Anita had a passion and devotion to our Lord and her Catholic faith and community. She lived her faith actively and would often be found in her chair praying the rosary on behalf of anyone in need of prayer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 West Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO, on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. preceding the funeral. Viewing is from 8:45-9:15 a.m. All family and friends are invited to a luncheon immediately following the funeral at Sacred Heart. The Rite of Committal and burial will be celebrated at Fort Lyon National Cemetery, Fort Lyon, CO, on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. All family and friends are invited.
