Ardis Jacqueline (Bish) Riegelmann was born on October 13, 1936, in Hammond, IN to the late Amos Frank Bish and Veronica Melvina (Joyce) Bish. She was the second youngest daughter of 15 children, living out the majority of her adult life in Syracuse, New York.
She first met Edward Riegelmann in 1957 through her brother, Jim (Ed and Jim were in the Air Force together) and they became pen pals before falling in love and marrying in 1958 at the age of 21. They had three children, Jennifer, Edward (Ed), and Constance (Connie). Ardis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She treasured her family and enjoyed being a wife and mother while holding down various part-time and full-time jobs. Two of her passions were sewing and cooking. She often made her children’s clothes as well as clothes for herself and was also known to family and friends as making the best homemade spaghetti and meatballs around. She loved the holidays and found great comfort in making Christmas cookies with her grandchildren.
Ardis is survived by her husband, Edward A. Riegelmann and her three children Jennifer L. Riegelmann, Edward A. Riegelmann, and Constance (Connie) Smith; her son-in-law, Michael Smith; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Riegelmann; her three grandchildren: Alex, Hannah, and Erich Riegelmann; several sisters, a brother, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
