Barbara Nicholas Buraglio, 75, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Barbara was born in Park Falls, Wisconsin on April 21, 1946 to Eli and Leone Nicholas. Both of her parents preceded her in death.
Barbara met her future husband Rocky when they were fourteen years old, and they cherished a relationship that lasted over sixty years. It is impossible to comprehend the loss of Barbara for her husband, her family and friends. The brilliant eyes and loving, infectious smile are gone but the spirit and memory of this one of a kind beautiful woman lives on.
Barbara graduated from Lincoln High School in Park Falls in 1963 and attended the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater before subsequently graduating from the University of Denver with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. While putting herself through college, Barbara worked in a law firm, taught high school and eventually settled on a long career in financial services. Barbara was very proud of the path she blazed for women in the financial services industry.
Family and friends were extremely important in Barbara's life. She made birthdays and holidays special for everyone and she made a point to make all those she encountered feel so important and special. Barbara loved fiercely and deeply and those who knew her were touched by her kindness and humor. She had a passion for crafting special greeting cards and baking, especially cookies. During the holiday season, Barbara's handmade Christmas card was always the first card you received and friends who visited from in and out of town often admitted that the primary visit purpose was to secure some of Barbara's cookies.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Rockne (Rocky) Buraglio, children, Donald Buraglio (Spouse Tiffany and grandchildren Dominic, Sophia and Giana) and Christine Nicks (Spouse Brian and grandchildren Alistair, Rockne, Azaria and Rhianna), her sister Brenda (Spouse Steve) Gehrke, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Greg and Joan Buraglio, her sister-in-law, Mary Nicholas, nieces Sarah Gehrke, Michele Hubert, Katie Buraglio, Rebecca Romero and nephew Michael Nicholas. Barbara was preceded in death by her brother William (Bill) Nicholas and her first husband, Michael Schantini. She is sadly missed by her loving Boston Terrier, Sadie.
