

Born on July 31, 1946 in Oskaloosa Iowa, the firstborn son of Vern J. DeBruin (deceased) and Dena Van Veen (deceased) grew up with a younger brother Stephen C. DeBruin (deceased).
He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1964 and went to Central College in McPherson, KS., finishing his BAat Miltonvale Wesleyan College in Miltonvale, Kansas in 1971. While at MWC he met Marjean Finley and they were married June 6, 1970 in Clay Center, Kansas at the Clay Center Wesleyan Church.
Barry worked as an auto glass installer for 35 years with several companies, ending with Safelite Auto Glass before retiring in Colorado Springs. The couple lived in Newton, Iowa, Clay Center, KS, Oklahoma City, OK, and finally Colorado Springs, CO. They took several trips to Europe, first in 1977 and again in 1979, seeing Holland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland by train.
After moving here in 1981, Barry joined the Pikes Peak chapter of the Highland Harmonizers Barbershop Chorus singing lead.
When moving here the couple joined Mt. View Wesleyan Church and remain members to this day. He enjoyed participating in the men's group activities when possible and was disappointed when he couldn't.
He loved any and all visitors who came to see him. Loved by one and all for his humor, attitude, and faith, he will he sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lois Marjean DeBruin of Colorado Springs, Steven and M. Beth Finley (Brother and Sister in Law) of Jasper, Georgia, Brian and Beth Finley of Lawrenceville, GA, and Sam Finley of Atlanta, Georgia.
The memorial service will be Thursday November 21, 2024 at 11am at Awakening Church, 3445 Oro Blanco Drive in Colorado Springs. A Luncheon will be provided following the service. Donations may be given to Awakening Church for an elevator fund already established.
