

He was born on January 5, 1930 in Kansas City, Kansas to Edward William Carr and Mary Bell (Mitchell) Carr. He was a 1948 graduate of Bonner Springs High School, Bonner Springs, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, primarily at Camp Carson, Colorado (now Fort Carson). He married Lois Ann Heffner in 1952 in Englewood, Colorado. He was a meat cutter, working in Colorado Springs at the commissaries at Ent and Peterson Air Force Bases.
He is survived by his wife, a son Steve E. Carr, a daughter J. Susan Oldham, three grandchildren Joshua B. Roach, Valerie M. Topkis, and Jacy J. Earhart, six great-grandchildren, one brother James R. Carr, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He fought courageously to overcome his years-long disability and will be remembered for tenacity, honesty, humility, quiet strength, and noble spirit.
A funeral service is planned for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Swan-Law Funeral Director’s Cascade Chapel. Burial will at Evergreen Cemetery.
