Bertie Lou (Becker) Mahan was born to Paul E. and Nettie (Storm) Becker on August 3, 1928 in Kit Carson, Colorado. In 1937 the family moved to Colorado Springs, CO. Bertie attended Colorado Springs High School and graduated in 1946. Bertie met and then married Bob V. Mahan on Oct.16, 1948. Bob and Bertie were blessed with 72 years together.
After high school she worked for Sears Roebuck and then went to work for Camp Carson. After raising her children she went to work at Northern National Bank for a few years and then for El Paso County Health Dept. where she retired in 1997.
Bertie was a dedicated member of Grace Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. In later years she was a member of Freedom Baptist Church. Bertie and Bob enjoyed square dancing and going on motorcycle trips with the Al Kaly Shrine, where she was a very active member of Shrine Ladies and Ladies of the Nile for many years.
Bertie’s most important thing in life though, was the unconditional love and dedication she had for her family and friends.
