Charles “Chuck” Melbuer, 95, of Colorado Springs, passed away on June 23, 2011. Chuck was born in Rush, Colorado to the late Charles W. and Francis Melbuer. After graduating high school, Chuck attended Colorado College and served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his service he worked at Blick’s Sporting Goods Store which he eventually owned and managed for 28 years.
Chuck was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball, basketball and bowling. After retirement he enjoyed traveling.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Esther; son, Chuck; daughter, Ginny (Loren); sisters, Bettie Baker and Mickey Hodges and grandchildren, Marsha (Mike) and Chris Melbuer. He is also survived by great grandchildren Danielle and Taylor Harris.
A gathering for family and friends will be held from 2:00-4:00PM, Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Swan Law Funeral Directors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice or the Colorado Springs YMCA.
