He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1953 from Olivet Nazarene University, Bourbonnais, Illinois and a Master of Education from the University of Illinois in 1955. He and his wife, Betty, married in 1951 and moved to Colorado Springs in 1955 to begin their teaching careers in the Colorado Springs School District Eleven. In 1966, Meyering received his Doctor of Education Degree from the University of Denver. For twenty-one years he served as a Supervisor of Secondary Education in School District Eleven. Prior to the appointment he taught at Columbia Elementary, East Junior High School and Palmer High School.
For almost a quarter of a century he served as a board member, choir member, Sunday school teacher and in various other capacities at First Church of the Nazarene where he was a member. Later he started an adult Sunday school class which he taught for ten years at Trinity Nazarene Church.
He was a loving husband and father and had a strong faith in Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, whom he made the center of his life.
Chet was preceded in death by his wife Betty in June of 2007. Surviving his passing are a daughter and son-in-law, Gregory and Michelle Isham of Colorado Springs, a son MG Meyering of Jonesboro, Arkansas, five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two brothers, Donald from Wilmar, Minnesota, Paul from Homewood, Illinois, and his sister Esther, from Holland, Michigan.
Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers the family as requested that donations be made to Mercy Gift, P.O. Box 62235, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80962 in Memory of Chet Meyering. This is organization he donated to monthly which goes to aid a daycare in Africa.
