Christine Belle Shumate was born on March 4,1938 in Gypsum Ohio to Ralph and Leola Baker. She joined Newton and 2 sisters Myrtle and Kathleen. The family moved to Wichita Falls Texas where she graduated from Wichita Falls High School. She married and had 2 children Patricia Louise and Louis Ray. She then divorced and married Gerald Shumate. They had 2 sons Henry Morris and Kenneth DeWayne. Gerald was in the Air Force so they moved a lot. They started in Texas then to Colorado Springs, Kalispell MT, Houston TX and back to Colorado Springs. Where they retired. After many varied careers they settled in Penrose. Where they opened a restaurant then a liquor store that was very successful. Christine was very active in her church Jehovah Witness. She is preceded in death by Patricia, Gerald, and Louis. She is survived by Henry (Gina) and Kenneth (Claudean) Shumate.
A graveside service for Christine will be held Friday, October 27, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Memorial Gardens Cemetery & Funeral Home, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
