Claudine H. Johnstone

January 15th, 1928 - July 16th, 2013

Claudine H Johnstone passed away at home on July 16th 2013, after a short, courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and close friends.

Born in Paris, France, Claudine was raised in Zurich, Switzerland. While she loved her adopted country America, her native Switzerland remained always in her heart.

Claudine enjoyed a lifelong love of ice skating, and one of her fondest memories was her attendance at the 1948 Winter Olympics in Saint-Moritz. Years later she would giggle at the huge difference with today's skaters, marvelling at their athleticism. She never forgot the joy she felt at being on the ice.

Claudine led a wonderful life, living and and traveling around the world with her husband of 64 years, and their four daughters, She shared her amazing smile with everyone she met, and left behind countless friends, many lifelong, that she made along the way.

We celebrate this beautiful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Our wonderful memories of her will last forever. She is deeply missed.

Claudine was predeceased by her father Henri Oberauer, her mother Germaine Oberauer Scalet, her adoptive father James Scalet, and her grandson Jon Van Pelt. She is survived by her husband Allan W.Johnstone, daughters Claudette Van Pelt, Laurette Johnstone, Paulette Johnstone Jeanette Lively, four grandchildren, nine greatgrand children and her beloved cats Schatzi and Saffva.
