It is with heavy hearts and sadness that Jeffrey P. Swope peacefully passed away surrounded by love into the arms of Jesus on 30 May 2025 at the age of 87. Jeff was a devoted husband, father, brother, pop-pop and great pop-pop, friend, and a beacon of kindness, strength, and compassion.
Jeff's life was a testament to the power of God, love and family. His unwavering support and nurturing presence always created a haven of warmth and security for his loved ones. Preceded in death by his father and mother (William and Gertrude Swope), brother William Swope, Jr, daughter Patricia Swope and son-in-law Dwight Oyler; Jeff is survived by his beloved wife Yasuko of 51 years, his daughters Sharlette Silva (Jim), Marie Oyler, Linda Foor (Terry), Sally Swope-Morehead (Richard), Kiyomi Omine (Yasunobu), and his brother Stephen Swope. His true joys included 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Cherished by family and friends, his bonds were enduring, filled with shared laughter and profound moments.
Born on 11 August 1937 in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, Jeff was the youngest of three sons and grew up with strong values that shaped his extraordinary life. From an early age, he exhibited a remarkable zest for life, an insatiable curiosity, and a deep passion for everything outdoors. Jeff was known for his unwavering dedication, storytelling, and ability to light up our hearts with his smiles and fun-loving goofiness.
Jeff pursued a distinguished 30-plus year career in the United States Air Force, where he earned the respect of colleagues and admiration of peers. "The Chief" was always serving others. Even after his retirement, he continued his dedicated service to the Air Force as a 10-plus year civil servant. He truly enjoyed being part of the military community and also became an ambassador during his repeated assignments and visits back and forth to the Pacific.
Jeff was involved in numerous community initiatives and charitable endeavors. He selflessly dedicated his time and resources to causes close to his heart, leaving behind countless acts of kindness and generosity that will forever define his legacy. In his early days, he loved boating, camping, hunting, and fishing. He also loved many sports: sumo, boxing, baseball and was one of the Denver Broncos biggests fans.
