

Master Sergeant Daniel E. Lynch, U.S. Air Force (Retired), passed away peacefully on March 19, 2012. He was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on September 9, 1920, the third of ten children, to Patrick Eugene and Mary Elizabeth (Phalen) Lynch.
Dan attended parochial schools as a child, dropping out after the eighth grade to help support his family during the Great Depression. He later earned his GED. As a teen, Dan served in the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) near Grand Junction, Colorado. He enlisted in the Army/Air Corps in 1942, later transferring to the Air Force. During his 23 years in the Air Force, he proudly served in both World War II and the Korean War.
A devout Catholic, Dan was a member of Holy Apostles Catholic Church. He will be remembered as a man of integrity who always tried to do the right thing. He was also a life-long fan of his beloved Fighting Irish.
Dan was also a very gifted mechanic and loved to tinker with cars. He also loved going to flea markets. Dan is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 63 years, Mildred, and his three sons; Dennis (Judy) and Brian both of Colorado Springs, and Kevin (Jane) of Fort Collins. He was also blessed with 7 grandchildren (six who survive) and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Swan Law Funeral Home from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Thursday, March 22. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 23 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, followed by burial with full military honors at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
