Kim and family, Our hearts are broken. How we loved Dave. He taught Mike to sail and they had many a boisterous, exhilarating adventure on the hobie cat. So sadden to have known of your passing. You have always been a smiling, happy, caring and giving person. I met you when you attended Elim Assembly in Bath, Maine. You used to be on the worship team. I have always enjoyed listening to you sing and play the guitar. I had asked you and one other to play songs at my dad's funeral.  You will be greatly missed by everyone who knew you.  Your in heaven  now dancing and loving  living with Jesus I'm sure. We will all meet again one day. My sympathies to the Bettinger family. God Bless each one.

I knew Dave when I attended Elim Assembly  of God in Bath. He had an easy, friendly, kind way about him. He was a talented singer, guitar player, worship leader. I loved his music and asked him play at my father's  funeral. You will be truly missed Dave.  I know your playing heavenly music for God upstairs.

Dave was so kind to School in the Woods! He actually donated a quality guitar when he saw that I was using a $25.00 guitar that I'd bought in Mexico. I remember him singing at Pikes Perk, and his daughter, Alli joining in, singing like a tween rock star. He was so proud of his girls: supporting the publishing of Barbara's first book, which we still carry in our school library. I was honored when a student asked me if he was my brother. After that, we'd jokingly call each other our twin. Dave was a wonderful person and will be missed.

We are so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. The angels in Heaven are rejoicing! Dave was truly a man of great substance and a warrior up until the end. We can now be comforted by the fact that God's blessed healing has taken place. It was not what we wanted, but God knows best. May He continue to sustain and comfort the family. I am so very sorry that our world has lost such a  kind and caring person,. I first met Dave and Kim when their daughter became a naturalist at School in the Woods. We hit it off and became friends.

Dave sang with students, taught at the school, and helped make the school videos for many years. He taught students songs and led them in performances. Dave gave and gave making an impact on many and bringing  joy to the hearts of a wide community. Dave made a difference in the lives of so many.

My heart goes out to Dave’s family and the others who were fortunate to have him in their lives, I will always remember Dave and appreciate his humanity.

Dave took me on an overnight kayak trip summer of ‘98. This was one of many outdoor adventures he shared with me.  Most of the other adventures growing up  included my siblings and the Bettinger Boys  ❤️: Mt. Katahdin, trail clean-ups on the AT, countless ball fields, and holiday gatherings .  Your love for nature, God, music, sports, and family overflowed into my young brain, I will always be so grateful for that.

Saddened with the news of Dave Bettinger’s passing. While I only had the pleasure of meeting him once, my daughter, Jordan adored him as a father in law. Her words and Peter’s love for his father speak volumes and to that end, I pray Dave rests in God’s perfect peace.  May his precious  memory comfort to his sons, Jesse, Peter, Seth and daughter, Alex, along with his  dedicated  wife, Kim and her children. Many will mourn the loss of Dave Bettinger, as husband, father, teacher, mentor, coach. He fought his cancer with a vengeance, by all accounts, before moving on to heaven. May he now rest in God’s percent peace.  ❤️

I was so sorry to hear this Peter and Jordan. What a ❤️ lovely Obituary made in his honor. I never had the pleasure of meeting him but from what you have said about him Jordan and his Family in Colorado seemed always so Beautiful. God Bless you all at this particular time of great loss, especially Peter, losing his father and mother not so long ago this past year. Dave was an incredible musician and an even better friend. I always enjoyed playing with him, and every time I hear ‘Saturday in the Park,’ I’m reminded of him. He played and sang that song so perfectly that I often thought I was listening to the original. His music will always hold a special place in my heart, and his memory will live on through the songs he loved. My deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.

I’m posting a picture of Dave on a guys camping trip back in the day here in Maine. He and my dad were good buds and had a blast! Our family loved Dave so much. What an amazingly sweet and kind and gentle man. My earliest memory of him was at a get together  he pulled out his guitar. He sang Here Comes The Sun in his beautiful voice. I’ve never forgotten that moment. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Love to you all.

Dave was an inspiration and truly embodied the type of love Jesus calls us to. He had such an impact on my faith walk. He was an amazing teacher, mentor and son of God. I always loved listening him play worship music and share his deep understanding of theology- and his funny stories. The beautiful legacy he leaves behind is one you should all be proud of. I am still in disbelief.  Dave and I served in VP-10 NAS Brunswick Me. during the early 70s and of all the things people could have in common,  Dave Bettinger, Jack Saunders, Eddie Merrill and Me,  was the guitar and music our thing. So I say musicians are special and that is why he is in Heaven. RIP Shipmate. To the family my greatest and deepest condolences.

Dave was my soccer coach back when I was in middle school and he was always so kind and caring. I still remember some of the drills we did at practice and I use those for my daughter now. He left that kind of impression on people at all ages. He will certainly leave a hole in a lot of people's hearts and  lives but his family should know he also enriched all those lives. He was one of a kind. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and his friends. He will be missed.
