She was born on June 4, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Albert David and Kathryn Sybil (McCullough) O’Keefe. The eldest of two children, Doris later moved to Colorado with her mother and younger brother, where she would go on to build a beautiful life.
Doris began working at a young age, but found her true calling as a teacher’s aide at Rogers Elementary School in Colorado Springs. For 23 years, she worked with special needs children - a job she deeply loved and was incredibly proud of. She also cherished her weekly Diet Pepsi outings with close friends at the local Village Inn, a simple pleasure that brought her joy.
In 1989, Doris married the love of her life, Eldon “Andy” Anderson, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two shared a love for dancing every Saturday night and cheering on the Denver Broncos. Together, they embraced the joy of family, especially the time spent with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Doris is survived by her four children: Donald “Skip” Shuck Jr., Bruce Kidwell (Deni), Debby Harmon, and Brian Kidwell; as well as five stepchildren: Jim Kidwell (Cindy), David Kidwell (Valerie), Jolisa Kidwell, David Anderson (Angela), and Debbie Davidson (Terry).
She was blessed with 22 grandchildren: Melissa Haas, Aaron Boekemeier (Nicole), Jeffery Kidwell, Amanda Miller (Jason), Gerrick Harmon, Glenn Harmon (Ashley), Mackenzie Welch (Bryant), Kaylee Kidwell, Marissa Kidwell, Benjamin Kidwell, Ethan Anderson, Julorie Galloway, Cisco Kidwell, Michelle Kidwell, Preston Kidwell, Kyle Kidwell (Alyssa), ShayLynne Keiser (Danny), and more - along with 30 great-grandchildren who brought light and laughter into her life. She also leaves behind many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Eldon “Andy” Anderson; her grandson Micheal Monroe Jenkins; her parents, Albert and Kathryn “Sybil” O’Keefe; and her brother, Albert “Bud” O’Keefe Jr.
Doris will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family. Her warmth and joy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
