

Dorothy G. Kenney of Colorado Springs, passed away on April 17, 2011. Dorothy was born on August 1, 1918 in Buckhannon, West Virginia to the late Jobe and Mahalia Smith. Dorothy graduated from Washington Irving High School in Clarksburg, West Virginia. During WWII she worked for Goodyear Aircraft manufacturing bombers for the war effort and was also selected to disassemble the first captured Japanese zero. She married Lt. Colonel William N. Kenney, Jr. in 1943. She retired from Army and Air Force Exchange Services after twenty years.
In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, making dolls, gardening, and was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star, M.O.A.A and R.O.W.C.
Dorothy is survived by her son, John (Teri) Kenney as well as grandchildren, Scott Galbraith, Tara Peterson, Kim Sinibaldi, Tracey Stansell, Billy Kenney, Scott Schmidt and Kristi Carapetti. She was preceded in death by her husband, William and her son William N. Kenney III.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 22, 2011 at Swan Law Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Shriners Children’s Hospital - Burn Unit.
