After nursing school graduation, she served in the army and in civilian life as a Registered Nurse, specifically ObGyn.
Married to a career Air Force Major allowed frequent military transfers and travel, which she and her husband Joe enjoyed very much. One of the highlights was traveling by ship to be stationed in Okinawa, and another favorite was traveling on the SS United States to the post in Paris, France.
Preceded in death by her dear husband Joseph and survived by their five wonderful children: Sons, Timothy J.(TX), William J.(NE), Mark J. Petta (CO), Daughters, Susan A. Insana (NY), Kathryn A. Thatcher (CO), as well as fifteen fabulous grandchildren, and twenty one fabulous great grandchildren.
