Douglas Lee Colson, age 56, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on November 6, 2014. He was a loving husband, step-father, son, brother, and friend.
Douglas was born on May 25, 1958 in Colby, Kansas to Ronald Lee and Sarah Ellen (Alishouse) Colson. Their family moved to the Colorado Springs area in 1964 where he attended school starting in the first grade and graduated from Widefield High School. He worked as a variety manager for the Safeway grocery store chain and retired after 34 years.
Douglas will be best remembered by many as the “Fantasy Football King” and leader of many fantasy football leagues. He was an avid Broncos fan, making sure to draft the players on his own fantasy team. He spent his free time gardening and landscaping his yard, golfing, and listening to music. He cherished his family and was a friend to many.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tamara; his four step-children, Adam, Alec, Alyssa, and Cassie; his parents, Ronald and Sarah Colson; his brother, Mark (wife, Debbie) Colson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive.
