Eleanor Gallegos

Eleanor Marjorie Gallegos was born on June 28, 1928, in Manzanola, Colorado to Miguel Gonzalez and Flora Franco Gonzalez. She was one of eight children.

Eleanor lived in the Arkansas Valley and Colorado Springs and was blessed with a large and loving family. She was a devoted mother and the Matriarch of the Gallegos Family. She raised her children with patience, discipline, love, and humility. She encouraged success from her children and recognized the special talents of each child. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, watching sports, the Denver Broncos and devoting time with her siblings, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children. Her family paid tribute to her, “Eleanor was one of the kindest people you could ever meet, she opened her heart and would go out of her way to do things that would improve the lives of others. She often made personal sacrifices and was willing to do without, so others would be better off.” She will be dearly missed for her warm smile, impeccable memory, enthusiasm for life and generous spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Miguel, and Flora Franco Gonzales; sisters, Luisa Gonzalez and Carman Gonzalez; brothers, John Carson, Timothy Gonzalez and Jose “Pete” Gonzalez.

She is survived by her siblings, Elisa (Gonzales) Mascarenas of Castle Rock, Colorado and Roberto Gonzales and wife Giglia of Denver, Colorado; children, Shirley Gallegos of Colorado Springs, Theodore Gallegos Jr. of Colorado Springs, Lori Phillips and husband Paul of Canon City, Kenneth Gallegos of Colorado Springs, Michael Gallegos and his wife Annetta of Thornton, and Dean Ortega and his wife Nicole of Colorado Springs. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Eleanor will be held Friday, March 18, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
