

Emil George Jares Jr., a beloved husband, father, and friend, peacefully passed away on October 12, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the remarkable age of 90. Surrounded by the love of his family, Emil leaves behind a legacy of kindness and dedication that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Born on April 15, 1935, in Gregory, South Dakota, Emil moved to Colorado Springs after marrying the love of his life, Marybeth Ann Sandven, on May 15, 1971. His passion for real estate blossomed as he began his career with Land Development Specialists, eventually opening his own office, All American Realty, in 1973. Emil’s unwavering commitment to his community was evident in every interaction, and he found joy in mentoring others, exemplified by the continued dedication of Bill Woelk in carrying on his legacy.
Beyond his professional life, Emil was a vibrant soul who relished the thrill of coordinating golf tournaments, indulging in pheasant hunting, and cheering on the Broncos during football season. Even in his later years, he found joy in watching his favorite sports on television, sharing those moments with family and friends.
Preceded in death by his wife, Marybeth, his granddaughter, Kristin Elster Lopez, his parents Emil and Lyla Jares and sister, Marlene Jares.
Emil is survived by his devoted spouse, Lorna Anderson Jares, and his beloved daughter, Renee Hedrick, along with son-in-law Todd Hedrick. He is also remembered fondly by his sisters, Lois Foltz and Carol Deffley, as well as his cherished nieces and nephews: Jan Christensen, Lori Daniels, Greg Foltz, and Dan Deffley. His warmth and love extended to Lorna’s children—Corey Anderson, Brooke and Jason Maxwell, Nathan and Katie Anderson, and Tasha and Matt Snow - along with 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored deeply.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs. Another visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25 at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 150 Pine Ave, Colorado Springs. The burial will take place on Monday, October 27 at 12:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Shriners Children's Hospital. Emil’s spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched, reminding us of all of the profound impact one life can have on many. He will be deeply missed, but his loving embrace will remain with us always.
