Erik was born on November 3rd, 1991 in New London, Wisconsin, to Herb and Angie Kober. He was the first of two children, and spent his early childhood tagging along with his parents as they moved from New London, WI, to Paris, TX, then to Wooton in the United Kingdom, and finally settling in Neenah, WI . Erik attended all levels of public school in Neenah.
After graduating from Neenah High School in 2010, Erik attended the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point where he received a bachelor’s degree in social science and a minor in psychology. After graduation Erik went to work for an in-home care service where he helped homebound individuals get the care they needed.
In 2017 Erik moved to Colorado where he worked as a Judicial Assistant for the El Paso County Courts. In Colorado he was able to pursue his outdoor passions, including hiking, fishing and camping. Erik was always looking for an adventure, and in Colorado he found many.
Erik was loved by his cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents and many friends in the Midwest and Colorado. He was a kind, creative and compassionate human being, who deeply cared for the people who had little. He loved music, was an accomplished guitarist, and wrote many songs over the years. During the past 7 years he worked very hard to honor his brother, Peter Kober, who passed away in 2018. Erik is survived by his parents, Herb and Angie Kober of Westcliffe, Colorado.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a future date. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please donate to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (https://www.dbsalliance.org/donate-to-dbsa/).
