Eva Ann (Grundeitz) Akers, 71, died February 21, 2015 at a local Colorado Springs Hospital. She was born September 14, 1943 in Colorado Springs to Henry and Leola Grundeitz of Yoder, Colorado. Eva is survived by her husband, James; son, Ryan; sister Loeda Westphal; cousins, nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two-half sisters, Loran Haag and Jaunita McGann.
Mrs. Akers received her education at Alta Vista and Colorado State College. Her teaching career began in Vernal, Utah, and Montrose, Colorado. She later taught kindergarten for the Harrison School District. Eva was a member of Mountain View Grange, Pomona and Colorado State Grange, the Colorado Natives Club and Ellicott United Methodist Church. She had also served as Republican Precinct Committee Chairman.
A memorial service will be held March 14 at the Ellicott United Methodist Church at 11:00 with Rev. Ferriman officiating. Memorial gifts may be sent to the church at 23252 Highway 94, Calhan, Colorado 80808
