Florence Torres

It is with great heartache that the family announce the passing of their beloved mother Florence Tenorio Torres, age 92, on May 2, 2023, in Covina, California. Florence was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Sister, and aunt.

Florence was born April 8, 1931 in Troy, Colorado and raised in Trinidad, Colorado. After marrying Louis, they moved to Casper, Wyoming and had 4 children before moving to Fountain, Colorado where they had 1 more child and adopted 1 child. After Louis retired, they moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Florence spent the last 5 years in Covina, California.

Florence is preceded in death by her loving husband Louis Torres who passed away April 16, 1987. They were married July 23, 1949 in Raton, New Mexico. Her parents Felix Tenorio and Porfiria Dulcinella Montoya Tenorio. Brothers Max Tenorio, Felix Tenorio, Richard Tenorio. Sister Josie Trujillo. Granddaughter Tanya Hopkins Petersen, Grandson Jose Cayetano Vasquez, son-in-law Curtis B. Sanchez.

Florence is survived by daughters Anita Doyle (Thomas), Rochelle Coria, Rosalie Torres, Charlotte Vasquez (Papo Cayetano). Son Max Torres, and adopted son David Roberts Torres. Brothers Anthony Tony Tenorio, Victor Tenorio. Sister Susan Tenorio Archibeque. 7 Grand Children, Austin Hopkins, Sophia Torres, Enrico Coria, Demetria Vasquez, Alyssia Vasquez, Kayleen Fridley (Daniel), Tina Ponce, and 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

While Florence was living in Wyoming, she graduated from cosmetology school and got her license to practice. She spent most of her life taking care of children, either children in the foster care system or neighborhood children, then her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to dance and always won jitterbug dance competitions. She liked to laugh and was always the one that would start a water fight when camping with family in the mountains of Colorado or a snowball fight at Christmas using Christmas wrapping paper as the snowballs.

Florence will be missed. Many happy memories.
