Following graduation from Colorado Springs High School in 1940, she worked at Mowry Creamery, El Paso Association and Shepherd Citations.
She met the love of her life, George Weege, while volunteering as a USO Hostess in Colorado Springs. They married on August 15, 1948. George and Frances spent their lives in Colorado Springs, residing most of that time in the home they built themselves. They took many trips, including cruises down the Mississippi River, Alaska, and realized a lifelong dream of exploring Italy together.
Frances was a long time parishioner of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where she was an active member of the Ladies Guild, assisting with many church functions. She made many friends from the church as a volunteer at Corpus Christi Elementary and St. Mary’s High School when her children were students. She was a Cub Scout den mother while her son, William, was a cub scout. Later in life she was an active member of the CSH/Palmer Alumni Association.
Her family was extremely important to her and the well-being of her children was paramount. She was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was a proud grandmother, affectionately referred to as "Nana" by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was known to be an excellent seamstress and cook, often making special cookies and treats, especially during the holidays.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband George, her three siblings Marguerite Pitinga, Cono Pitinga and Rose (Pitinga) Kroen; her daughter Carol Garrard, and her granddaughter Amanda Garrard. She is survived by her son, William Weege and his wife Pam of Texas; son-in-law, Edward Garrard of Colorado; and grandchildren Megan, Marissa and Nicholas as well as 6 great grandchildren.
