Heavenly Father, I place my earthly father Gary Jacob Ulku before you now and I ask that You keep him. He has kept Your word: as a Father, he did not provoke me to anger, but he brought me up in the discipline and instruction of Christ. Lord, I pray that the knowledge, morals, and principles that You led him to instill in me will also guide his life so that he may draw closer to You, Amen. Thank you all for coming to see a great man make his journey to see his own father Ernest Jacob Ulku in the heavens above us.! They are now together, We will all join them in the future and celebrate life!!! Love you all!!!
I want to especially thank all his family, friends and enemy's for being a part of our lives! All I can think about is the days we have spent together talking about life in general, everyone that we knew was always on out minds! Me and my father met everyday for the last 2 years at 2:30 sharp for happy hour, even during the pandemic!!!! My father was not scared of it and even though I did get it, he said who cares, just another flu and still had a beer next to me! His biggest saying that I will always remember is that you control your life and you need to make it out how you want it to be, and live it to your fullest!!!! Let's fish on and carry on his memories with friends, brothers, son's and grandson's, granddaughter' and even great grandchildren!! God Bless!! My heart hurts!!

I thank the Lord that He got the message to me. I had been far away from the family. since since 1974. Working my career in diff. states. I am grateful that someone told me about my 'big brother' is located in Colo. Springs, Co. 1995-- Went to visit him, and he suggested I move to Colo. 5 minutes later I said yes.
God knows our future and helping us always, never leaving us alone. I didn't know that I would be needing my brother Gary in my life. Bro. is so kind and considerate of family He was always willing to help. I do love my Bro.

My grandfather was a big part of my life. He was there for me since day one. He always made sure his family was happy and taken care of. We always had so much fun going places. From singing Sugarland on road trips to cheering on the Vikings, no matter how simple the event, we always had fun. He was there for my school dances, my graduations, and even my first heart break. He drove 1200 miles 2 days after I gave birth to see his great-granddaughter. He loved everyone of us unconditionally. You could say my Grampy was a father figure and he taught me many valuable lessons. I don’t know where I would be without his influence.

As i said, i would add a adventure we had that I wanted to share of my brother that to me was special.
We where fishing on Leech Lake (huge). Sleeping in a tent in Sept.
Got up to fish in morning and it was windy and we a little green around the gills from night before. Got out on a very windy lake and about 5 miles out and I look at Gary and said 'wanna go in?' he said better cause if I'am as green as you we won't make it. In we went and it took us a hour against the wind and crawl into the sleeping bags for two hours sleep before starting over again. Oh my, that was a great fishing trip and ate lots of fish and slung alot of bull! :-)

This is a difficult task. I have many but putting them down for this is facing reality. Very difficult indeed. I have many great memories of my (older) brother. Which he always said was me. I shall try to post them from time to time.
The first time Gary came to join us for Mn fishing was a start of the best of times. We actually did some fishing but that was besides the stories told etc.
one time we were in Binford N.D. Fishing at Devils Lake. Which is more stories on thelake. In Binford was a fireman sponsored street dance. Well being a AF vet as fire chief he said proudly"in support of fellow fireman, i'am putting my teeth in and walking into town!!" (2 blocks ) Don and I laughed all night long till 2 am when he came back. Loved that guy!

My grandfather was stern, hardworking, and never hesitated to discipline us (his grandchildren) when the moment called for it. However, he also adored and loved us very much, never hesitated to lend a hand when we asked and forbore a lot of shenanigans over the years, knowing it was a part of growth. Watching us do so and develop into better people, I hope, is something he, even now, expects but also looks upon with favor.
We love you, Grampy.

I first met the Ulku family in the early 80’s when we lived in England. I recall when Gary, Stephanie and I went down to the pub and he bought me my first drink when I turned 16. I love this family and I will miss Gary. He was like my 2nd Dad. I will always remember going to Colorado Springs back in 2011 and how when I got there after not seeing them for many years I felt right at home. I love all of you dearly. I will miss you....Rest in peace Dad Ulku.

Being the baby brother, I truly love Gary, as I do love my other siblings Sharon, Phillip, Gail, Clyde, Kari. One of the greatest memories is when I was a young teen I was able to ride with Gary and Pam to Texas from Minnesota.
“ Heavenly Father we know and believe that our times are in Your hands, but Lord it's so often such a shock to us when a dear loved one meets with a sudden or unexpected death – through an accident or perhaps due to some unforeseen tragedy, which takes the life of someone they loved – long before it would be expected.
Lord, we bring before You today those who are having to go through such a tragic loss and pray that You would be very close to each one that is in mourning today over such a loss – and are perhaps confused or even angry that such a devastating occurrence has overtaken them – without any apparent warning.
You are the God of all comfort Who comforts us in time of need and we pray that for those that are facing such a difficult trial today. Uphold them we pray, and ask that You draw very close to them … raise up we pray, the right people to minister to them and to be a genuine comfort and support at this time of tragedy and grief.
Lord, we don't understand why our loved ones should suddenly be removed from us through a sudden, unexpected death – but Lord we trust You to soothe away the hurt in time – for shall not the God of all the earth do right…. In Jesus name, we pray,”

Gary was my Grandpa and he will forever hold a special place in my heart! We will all love and miss him dearly as time goes by. God has another angel by his side for eternity. May he wait for us in heaven when it is our time. Prayers to the family and friends that loved him. I will always remember the the great family dinners in Colorado Springs. We shared so many memories. Rest in peace!
