

George Emrick, 85, passed away Thursday, May 2. George was the 5th out of 7 children born to Alva and Ina Emrick on the home place near Pritchett, CO where he attended school through grade 12. In 1952 and 1953 he served in the Army in the Korean War. July 5, 1955 he married RosaLee Hathaway and to this union 4 sons and 1 daughter were born. Russell (Cathy) of Colorado Springs, CO, children: Mark, Chris and Julie; Douglas (Eileen) of Parker, CO, children: Jeffrey, Brian, Scott and Tyler; Perry (Krista) of Fountain, CO, children: Felicia (deceased) and Jeremy. Later, they adopted two wonderful little brothers, Andrew and Austin; Roger (Penny) of Colorado Springs, CO, children: Terri, Trisha and Stephanie. The daughter, Ginger Lou, lived only 5 days. He farmed at the home place until 1964, then moved his family to Pueblo, CO and worked at CF&I for nearly 22 years, retiring from there in 1986. In 1987, he and his wife moved to Colorado Springs, CO and managed a self-storage facility for 13 years before retiring in November, 2000. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, granddaughter, 5 brothers: Elmer, Marion, Eli, Ivin and Judson, and only sister, Susie Emrick Brock. He is survived by his wife, RosaLee, of nearly 58 years, four sons and daughters-in-law, 13 great-grandchildren as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 7 from 5-7pm. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, May 8 at 10:00am, with burial to follow. All will be held at Memorial Gardens.
