

George Lennox Keener (known as Lennie in his younger years) was born August 24, 1950, in Colorado Springs, CO. He passed away November 3, 2013, at Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge, CO, following a brave battle with Parkinson’s disease.
He was 63 years old.
Lennie grew up in Colorado Springs, CO, attending Skyway Elementary School, and Cheyenne Mountain Jr. High. He was a 1968 Cheyenne Mountain High School graduate. He attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO, where he studied Music and later Business.
Until his diagnosis, George had worked 16 years for Service America in the Denver Convention Center. He loved to play the piano from an early age, and had a gift for composing and arranging music. Despite his Parkinson’s, he was determined to play the piano up until a couple years ago. He was an avid Denver Bronco, Denver Nugget, and Colorado Rockies fan.
George most recently attended Smokey Hill church of Christ, but spent many years at Cherry Hills Community Church, participating in several Men’s Bible Studies. His love for the Lord certainly sustained him through this disease.
George is survived by his mother, Greta H. Keener, Yorba Linda, CA; brother, Jerry and his wife, Rosemary, Aurora, CO; sister, Gwenn Withrow and her husband, Jim, Yorba Linda, CA; aunt, Martha McGall, Littleton, CO; 3 nephews, 2 nieces; several great-nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 8, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Swan-Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made in George’s name to Collier Hospice Center.
