Grace was born in Colorado Springs, CO on October 11, 1926, a daughter of the late Thomas R. Alston and Edna Mae (Skinner) Alston-Calvert. She graduated from Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, CO.
She married William Verdell Tamlin on February 18, 1946 and started their home in Falcon, CO. They later moved to Ellicott, and then later returned back to Falcon for the majority of their years together. He preceded her in death on January 22, 1988.
Grace loved her sunshine and being outside on a warm summer day, cultivating her many plants whenever she could. In her earlier years, she always prepared a full dinner feast whenever anyone dropped by their home for a visit. At the age of 93, she was still living by herself and mowing her own grass. The years finally caught up with her flesh, but never her spirit. One day, while in rehab at 95, she said she was feeling upset with herself because she was “lazy” and wasn’t doing anything, just laying down. She wasn’t lazy a day in her life.
Grace is survived by one daughter, Mitzie (Ron) of Falcon; three sons, Larry (Debbie) of Katy, TX; Robert of Peyton; Daryl (Gloria) of Security; and two sisters, Thelma Kimberlin of Colorado Springs, and Rita Willey of Sacramento, CA. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and even 3 great-great grandchildren.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters: Clara Toth and Irene Bender; and brothers: Richard Alston and Thomas Alston.
