Harold E. Cornell, beloved husband, passed away on January 17th, 2018, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was a proud New Yorker, born in the Bronx, New York City November 17th, 1927, the middle of three children born to Edwin and Mary Cornell.
Upon graduating high school in 1945, Harold’s first job was working for the New York City phone company. Soon thereafter, he actually opened and operated his own gas station, but was quickly called into a life in the military. He served in the Army for four years, then enlisted in the Air Force, where he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant over the course of the next 20 years.
In the military, Harold saw the world, being stationed in places such as Alaska and Germany. When in Germany he met Senta Deppisch, and they married in 1960, a union which would last until until her death in 1997.
Upon leaving the military in 1978, Harold moved to Colorado Springs, where he was a stellar post office employee until his retirement. He soon thereafter met Rebecca, the second love of his life, and they were married April 2002.
Harold was a jovial soul, loving to tell stories of his youth, socializing, eating desserts, and playing dominos with friends, family and neighbors. He was a big fan of the Broncos and Rockies. His favorite pet was a cat named Muffy.
He leaves behind his devoted wife Rebecca Cornell, and the loving family of Bernadette and Wayne Smith, Rita and Kevin Ellson, John Gonzales, Mark Gonzales, and Cynthia and Glenn Clark, grandkids Jennifer, Joshua, Jessica, Tyler, Luke, Ethan, Haley and great granddaughters Ashtyn and Kylee
