

Born June 13, 1923 in Schwabisch Hall, Germany, the daughter of Ernst and Helen Hoeckel. The family settled in Colorado in 1927. She graduated from St. Mary's High School, served in the US Army Air Corps in Air Operations at Wright-Patterson Field during WWII.
In 1945 she married Joseph W. Bauer, who died in 1992. Jeff majored in fine art at DU, owned and operated Flower Haven, Inc. in Denver. In 1960 the family moved to Colorado Springs where Jeff was a senior Girl Scout leader, taught swimming, and was active in local politics. She enjoyed a wide variety of interests from painting to astronomy, camping to gardening and rock collecting.
She is survived by son Paul R. Bauer, daughter Rev. Pamela T. Bauer Shortridge and spouse Muncie, granddaughter Katrina Shortridge, and great-granddaughter Logan Shortridge, by sisters: Charlene Saeman and Helen Zimmerman, brother: Ernest Hoeckel; and former sister-in-law Patricia Stein, and special caregiver Robin Depies
She was pre-deceased by brothers Kurt Hoeckel and Hans Hoeckel, and sisters-in-law; Gertrude Hoeckel and Kay Hoeckel and brothers-in-law; Joseph Saeman and Roy Zimmerman.
Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 10:00am at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Colorado Springs, CO. Private interment will be in Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO.
