Irene Theodora Borah (Saldana)

Irene Theodora (Saldana) Borah, age 96, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully December 21,2022. Irene was surrounded by her daughter, Diana, and Son-in-Law John.

Irene was born in Engles, Kansas to Refugio and Vicenta (Torresdey) Saldana in 1926. Irene was 3rd oldest of 12 siblings. Irene lived a full life and was always ready with a smile or a great story about her life. She was truly proud of her two grandchildren and was eager to tell anybody who was willing to listen about them. They were the love of her life.

Irene is survived by her brother Antonio Saldana of La Junta, Co., her daughter Diana Harris (John) of Colorado Springs, Co., and her son Greg Jones (Kristen) of Montrose, Co., and her grandchildren, Nathaniel Jones of Flagstaff, Az., and Bethany Jones of Grand Junction, Co.

Irene loved living close to family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her ready smile and servants’ heart was always part of the event. Everyone Irene met was a new friend as her outgoing personality just pulled them in. Irene loved cooking and enjoyed making traditional Mexican dishes for all of her family and friends to enjoy that included homemade tortillas and rolls, pork green chile and tamales, just to name a few.

Irene was a very happy and funny person and always had a story to share and enjoyed going to the Senior Center in Colorado Springs where she had many friends. One of her favorite things to do was to go camping with Diana and John and Irene took her last camping trip the summer of 2020 to Lutheran Valley Ranch in Divide Colorado. Irene spent many summers with Diana and John camping in the mountains outside of Colorado Springs and her love of everything God created showed in her smile. Irene also loved gardening, flowers, baking, doing jigsaw puzzles and word search puzzles. Irene played Bingo for many years and was quite lucky at winning.

Irene loved the Lord and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the age of 60. Irene loved to attend church and read God’s Word. Irene was devoted to her faith and loved her home church, Family of Christ in Monument Colorado.

A celebration of life will be held on January 13, 2023 at 3PM as well as a reception to follow from 4:00PM to 5:30PM at Family of Christ, 675 W. Baptist Road, Colorado Springs, CO.
