Irma Chase passed away on January, 29th 2017 at her home in Colorado Springs. Irma was born on May 13th, 1935 and raised in Aalen, Germany. Irma met the love of her life, John James Chase “Jim”, during his deployment in Crailsheim, Germany. As an Army wife, Irma followed Jim throughout his postings and they were only separated during his Viet Nam tour of duty. After Jim’s retirement to Colorado Springs, Irma worked for the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) for 28 years where she ran the Prussman PX and snack bar on Ft. Carson. Due to Irma’s dedication to “her” troops, the snack bar was officially renamed “Irma’s Place” – an honor singly bestowed on her store out of many AAFES branches nationwide. Irma was an avid cook and took joy in watching others eat, especially when they were too full for even one more bite – and she still managed to get three more bites in you!
Irma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim, of 53 years, her best friend and sister Renate (Ronnie) Moses, her dear brother, Eugene (Angela) Koenig, son in-law, Jeffery Scott Monaghan, and her parents Theresa and Eugene Koenig.
She is survived by one sibling, her brother Gunther Koenig of Aalen, Germany, her sons Charles (Lisa) Chase and Andy (Carla) Chase, her daughters Patty Christianson and Martha Monaghan, her many grandchildren Nicholas, Jennifer, Katelyn, Nicole (Brent), Tyson, Crystal, Allen, Joshua (Kendra), Aaron, Bryan, James and Andrew, her great grandchildren Anthony, Zaydin, River, Carson, David, William, Jessy, Zyleigh, Ella, Elvis and little Bubba-Joe. Funeral Service will be held at Swan-Law on Friday 2/3/2017 at 10:30 a.m. with reception to follow in Swan-Law’s reception room.
